Tranny help
Okay guys have a 1988 5speed
I did a complete drivetrain rebuild y'all been a great help for the rest of the rebuilt the last thing I have to do is put in the shifter and it slides in but I can't shift tranny is in Neutral

I'm not following you.
Are you saying that the shifter is on but the trans is stuck in neutral, or it goes through the gear pattern but none of the gears engage?

I'm thinking that the shifter forks may be misaligned.
Try pulling the top cover off and double checking that it's actually in neutral and not between gears

Yeah thats why you have to pull off the top cover in neutral, cause right now the transmission is stuck in 2 gears at he same time. Take off the top cover and line up the shift forks in the collars, you might have to slide a collar to get it to line up.

Ok that was it fixed slid in perfect got all gears. But it makes a loud ticking/clanking noise and when I push in the clutch the engine dies
