Default Tire Sizes

Does anyone have an idea on what tires i can fit on my 89 F150? it has the 4.9 6 cyl and its 4 wheel drive. it doesnt have a lift. the current rims on it are 15 inches and i'd like to keep them. i was was thinking on 31X10.50s or 32X11.50s. i remember on my old bronco II, i had 31X10.50s and they fit with alot of clearance..... but that had a 2 inch body lift...any ideas??? thanks:-D:-D

No problems here with the 31s at stock truck height.

Need to check the front springs, they tend to sag with age - may create some alignment/treadwear issues with wider tires - I found it was cheaper to replace the springs than to put the cheapie twist-in spacers in the springs.

Don't think there would be an issue with 32s for clearance - need to check your current rim width - may end up with tires that look like doughnuts if the tire gets significantly wider than the rim. One suggested rule-of-thumb is to keep the tire width to about 2" wider than the rim width (8" rims for 31x10.50 looks good).

Also, consider your axle ratio and what effect larger diameter tires will do for performance, and whether that would be acceptable.

I have a 1996 4x4, stock suspension, and I have the 31x10.5's on with plenty of room to spare. No problems with rubbing, turning, etc.
