Default Tire Size

I have a 96 f150 XL 2WD. Looking to get a 4inch lift. Size of current tires are 235/75/15. Whats the biggest or ideal tire I can fit on there without rubbing or looking too small? Only reason I want a lift on it is because I like to go fishing by a river and the terrain could be rough. I think it has stock wheels.

With a 4" lift you should be able to fit 33's no problem may even be able to squeeze 35's not sure. I know the 7th Gens can fit 33x12.50 stock

I think the general rule of thumb is 33x12.5 with a 4" lift and 35x12.5 on a 6" lift. If you were going to get that big of a tire, I would recommend different wider wheels with some negative offset because those wheels you have are 7.5" wide and sit pretty far under the truck which might cause rubbing on the radius arms even with the lift.

Appreciate the info. I just checked out a pic of a 33x12.5 on a 6inch lift. I think I could even deal with a smaller tire than that. Someone told me to try 32x11.5 or 31x10.5

You could get come moog cc824 springs to level the front end and you should be able to fit 31x10.5's. It's one of the most popular upgrades. You will need an alignment afterwards, but you would probably need that regardless of how much you lifted it.

Since it is a 2WD I would sink my money into a good limited slip for the rear end if you didn't already have one.

^^ second. my 91 has 31x10.50 and i want something bigger. If you only want something for mild off road, I would do the moog replacement and swap in some 31x 10.50s and a limited slip. If you wer close to Chattanooga, TN. I'd sell you my 31x10.50s cheap.
