Default Timing set for 302

I am planning on installing a new timing set in my 302. There are a million choices ranging for 20 bucks for a standard cloyes all the way to about $315 for some cloyes hex-a-just "true" timing set.

There is also a "heavy duty" double roller timing set for $50. 2 Edelbrock sets for about $41 and $64 and a comp cams set for $57.

All together there are 27 different timing sets to choose from.

Is there any reason to buy anything other than the $50 heavy duty double roller set? Is the $20 set fine? I am assuming I don't need the $315 set especially for a stock engine...

I always opt for the HD double roller... make sure you soak it in oil before you put in on...

stay away from Edelbrock....

Yeah I was thinking the heavy duty double roller set is what I should get. It is a Cloyes set.

Timing chain? what tells you that you need to replace the chain? (I'm not confronting, rather learning)

they wear over time and too much deflection will make the chain jump a tooth...
