Default Timing advance

I'm wanting to advance my timing. I've already gotten new spark plug wires, new distributor cap and rotor, new spark plugs, and new ignition coil. I wanna finish up the tune with a timing bump. I need step by step instructions. Sorry for this, I just don't wanna mess it up

Well you need feeler gauges and the proper tools and knowledge. If you take it slow its hard to mess up. First off, if you a 5.8 like me, or a 5.0. The back two plugs on the passenger side will be a little difficult ti get to. I had to crawl underneath and do it by feel through the wheel well. Okay. I suggest gapping your plugs to .053 for tbe v8's. Idk about L6. Thy say you can go .055 but i wanted a little safety barrier. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. Start off marking all your wires on the old cap. Pull the cap off(old wires attached) and replace the rotor. Put new cap on. The cap only goes on one way. One by one transfer old wires onto new cap in proper place. Now that that is done get you a spark plug socket with a ubber or foam insert and start removing spark plus one at a time. Ford is infamous for spark plug problems. Not so much on these trucks but take it easy. Dont force a plug out. It will snap and break and youve got major problems. Pb blaster works miracles. Quarter turn at a time if you have to. Do one plug at a time. And put the old wire back over the plug, dont attach, just so you know it belongs to that plug. make sure you try to start most plugs with your fingers so you dont crossthread them(major problems).Once youve got all the plugs changed. Start at one plug and work your way around in a circle. Pull one wire off, find corresponding length new wire and replace. Once thats done your ready to go. I havent bumped my timing forward et but it runs amazing with the overgapped plugs alone. Hope this helps.
