Default throttle cleaning

Carb cleaner did almost nothing. Then I read about transmission fluid and it instantly dissolved baked on carb in throttle. I dipped a tooth brush into the fluid and brushed away. I also reached into the upper intake, as far as a brush would allow, cleaned some and wiped it off.
Some residue of trans fluid is still in upper intake. Is it safe for o2 sensors and the cat? I read that it may be risky to sensors and the cat? Should I run the engine a bit with at least the sensors unplugged?

Thanks in advance.

By the way, it damaged the paint on the tip of the hood where I touched it without knowing. Not a big deal, but just to let you know.

Good tip on the transmission fluid, what type did you use? Also I think you'll be just fine to run the engine, I've heard of people using trans fluid for injector/engine cleaner. My friend did it in his civic lol

Old school - we used to use a 50/50 mix of water and transmission fluid down the carburetor at about 2500 rpm to clean out carbon.

I have no experience with this but I can see your sincere with the o2 sensor. I could imagine that fouling. I wouldn't worry about the cat. As long as your not dumping it in there the cat should just burn it off. The only thing I can say for the o2 is unplugging it won't help. But again I think if you just brushed a little in the throttle body you should be fine.

Thank you all for the replies. I used mobil 1 synthetic ATF. Left over from the change.
There was another "old school" way of trickling in water while the engine was hot and running, but it warned that I could hydro lock the cylinders. This was "steam" cleaning it.
It's not the end of the world if I foul the sensors, but thanks again for the advices.

My old instructor always used the water method. He said as long as you go slow it works great.
