Default Thermostat Replacement - Gasket or Gasket + Permatex?

Hi Everyone,
I'm planning to replace the thermostat in my '92 4.9L and I was wondering if I should just use a thermostat gasket or use a gasket with some Permatex added on it. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

For me it took the gasket plus some blue silicone. It wouldn't seal with just a gasket, I even sanded the mating surface smooth and clean. After 2 attempts I used a gasket plus silicone and it's been solid since.
