test a knock sensor with a DMM?
On a 95 F150 5.0, is there a way to test the knock sensor using a DMM?
I got a 225 code and found my sensor was broken. I inadvertently hit it against the firewall when I was reinstalling the engine not long ago. I found a replacement on ebay and put it in but I'm still getting the code. I just took the upper intake off and pulled the sensor and now I'm looking for a way to check it to see if it works or if a faulty sensor was sent to me by mistake.
I hate that the sensor is located behind everything on these trucks. It turns a 5 minute job into an hour job.
Thanks in advance!!

That code does NOT mean there's anything wrong with the KS. Click these & read the captions:

BTW
We don't need to see the truck's VIN; but ALL its details & history need to be in your signature IN PLAIN TEXT as this caption explains:

Yours is better than most, but it lacks a LOT of details: miles, maintenance, mods, damage, repairs, the full list of factory-installed options...

Thanks Steve and I appreciate the input but I'm still not sure what to do. Either the knock sensor is bad or something else is bad and it's throwing a code for the knock sensor. I've run a KOER test three times and did the dynamic response test just as it states in the instructions yet the code still appears. I replaced it after the second KOER test with one I bought off of eBay to see if that would work...needed to anyway since I broke the first. Still getting the code. Plus, the CEL light comes on after the truck is driven a bit. My connections are good on the KS and there's no continuity between the connectors on the inside of the sensor and the metal body of the sensor (so no short). The last/original one broke when I was putting the engine back in the truck. And I already own and use a Haynes manual. I have two actually and neither of them give details on how to check a knock sensor to see if it's faulty.
Would not having the air injection system impact the operation of the knock sensor? The smog pump went out over a decade ago and has since been removed. Nothing was hooked up to the cats anymore either so I removed the rest of it and plugged the holes. I haven't read anything anywhere from anyone stating problems occurring and 225 codes being thrown as a result of doing that but if someone's heard of a link between the two, please let me know and I will put it back in.

Read those captions, and follow the links in them. Not necessarily.Picking a word or part name out of a code definition is BAD. Read & post the COMPLETE definition each time you post a code number. The definitions in the caption of that first diagram above are from the Ford PCEDs specifically for these trucks.
How, exactly, did you do it?The KS can't cause the CEL to come on.
Then you have some reading to do. It's illegal to remove or disable any factory emissions system on any vehicle that will be operated on public roads. It's also counterproductive - all vehicles run best when they're maintained - NOT dismantled. When you have a flat tire, do you unbolt the wheel from the axle & drive around without it? When a headlight bulb goes out, do you throw away the whole headlight assembly? Read this article:
