Default Tachometer problem :(

Ok everyone. I have a 1991 300 4.9l straight 6 with stock gauge cluster. For some reason the RPM gauge and the battery gauge isn't working correctly. If I bang on the dash really hard it starts to work, or if I push the emergency brake in 1/4th of the way it starts to work. But as soon as I pull the emergency brake back out, the tachometer goes back to 0. Sometimes if I'm riding down the road it will start working and whenever it starts, the light that says I don't have my seatbelt on comes on, even when I have my belt on. Please, tell me how to fix this. Thanks.

Sounds like a loose connection in the cluster if you bang on it and it starts to work.

Replace the cluster.

I wonder if its a loose CONNECTOR , on the cluster, take a look around the e brake, for any weird wiring, crushed wires, big ***** of tape, and try pushing the parking brake down and see what else moves, then if you dont find anything pull out the cluster, and check the connector, if its clean , plug it back in and try again, if its still messed up take it back out and look the cluste over for cruddy looking solder joints. It might be an easy fix, you might need a cluster.
