Swap half ton running gear for 3/4 ton?
I was wondering what kind of work im looking at to make a swap from half ton running gear to 3/4 ton in my 96 F150

it cant be done, (EASILY that is. the engine crade crossmember is about 2-3 inches wider front to back, and you cant use the f150 one beause the arms on the 3/4 ton are shorter. you have a newer model so you have the crushable frame, and the springs will not bolt on unless you box the front of the frame, and build your own spring mounts, and if you happen to get a 3/4 ton with a d44 the end knuckles wont fit either. and on the rear end, is your speed sensor and abs, and if you get a rear end out of an older truck none of that will work, and if your running an auto trans, and you do that the shifting will be rough.
i was going to do the same swap, but found out how hard it was going to be, and just didnt feel like messing with it.. just find a 78-79 f150 coil sprung front axle. pretty much a drop in. with little welding and cutting.
