Question stumped

i have a 87 ford f150 hmi truck with a straight 6.that i just bought and had had to change the starter in it,it lasted a month exactly,it started fine for a minute than it wouldnt start at all, like it would be hot and make it not start,i noticed my moter would kick back, anyways all the teeth n the starter was gone,the2nd one lasted 7 days the whole gear on the started was gone, the 3rd one lasted 2days and broke the whole cone off the end,the 4th lasted about the same i just replaced it yesterday,i pulled it at the parts store, and the guy there crawled underneath to look at my flywheel and the teeth are fine, but it keeps eating up starters and leaving me stuck.coul it be the timming causing this

If its not timed correctly, it will be harder to crank and can cause a cylinder to fire at the wrong time ,this could be the " kick back" you discribed.

Are you getting your starters from the same parts store? Could be a bad batch of starters, I've ran into that befor.

i pretty much believe it has to do with my timming, thats whats causing it to run hot, makinking it hard to start, and when i'm under load trying to accelerate my moter pings pretty hard
