Unhappy Stumbling Start

my 94 f150 5.0 misses and has no power when started. if you tuun it off and restart it, it runs fine. occasionally the check engine light will come on for a short period of time and go off. the only code saved was 118 which is the coolant sensornot supplying the correct voltage on start up. i replaced it and all was fine for about a month and it started doing it again. the new coolant sensor tests with in the limits suggested for it. i need help.johnjean

That is a weird one. If it were mechanical it would happen all the time. Sounds electrical. When was the last tune up with rotor plugs and wires? When was the last fuel filter. Although I dont think that is what the problem is. Check the wires to the coil make sure they are good and tight. Might check fuel pressure when the problem is occouring. Again just a thought.

Thanks NGM I had already tried most of what you mentioned.I went back again checking all voltages and values othe sensors and every thing was within specs. It just seemed like it wasn't going from start mode to run mode.I gave up and replaced the computer and it runs as well or better than new. I towed my 30' travel trailer 70 miles today and it ran perfectly. Thanks for the response and sorry for the time it took to get back. johnjean
