Default Stereo / Speakers

I just bought a truck today...it's been a long time, but it's good to be back in a F150!

The stock stereo is crap, so I'm looking to upgrade. A few questions:

1. Is it easy to remove the stock / install a new stereo, (wondering about the dashboard or any wiring issues.)
2. What size speakers fit in the doors? Any recommendations?

I'm looking to build a clean system that is loud enough to drown out engine / road noise, but not shake the car next to me at a red light. I will likely power the speakers with a small amp and might get a small subwoofer for behind under the seat, but that's about it.

Thanks!

man there is so much to choose from. i got a 3 year old pioneer head unit, (i think 6 1/4) pioneers in the doors and the rears are stock. i got a 10 inch subwoofer and a 1000 watt amp. though the amp and sub arent really needed. i had to lift the rear seat(i got an xtended cab) 2 inches to get the sub to fit. if i were you i would shop around, find what you want and go get it from bestbuy and normally if your buying a radio and speakers they will include install. be wary of small shops, my dad was so eager to put a radio in his ranger, he saw a shop on the way home and ended up with overpriced junk. well i guess that could happen at best buy too. so shop online first.

Pioneer has always been great stuff for me! Buy a head unit and wiring harness then it's just plug and play! The doors are 6.1/2 and the back are 6/8. If I was you I would use the deck to power the speakers and then just get a small class D mono amp to power your sub. When removing the factory deck you'll need the ford removal tools. There like 6 bucks at wal mart! You can also get the harness there too! Hope this helps
