I see that I have the same problem too. I found this: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Steering-...0-steering.htm

...so I assume I'll be looking for another steering column.

See I bought the steering column i have now on the truck from ebay. I bought it because my teeth inside my old column where striped out for the ignition. I had a whole new cylinder installed in this new one a while back not knowing about the wheel being like that. I still have the old column in which the wheel was tight. is there any way that wheel will come off and i can put it on the new column. Or do I have to still get whole new column again in order to fix this? If so then i might just live with it. Its more of an annoyance then mechanical.

I suspect the offending part can be swapped out because that link mentioned a bearing. I'm not looking forward to doing this on mine. The last column I worked on was an old Chevy truck that was a 3 on the tree. What a pain.

That's probably due to the air bag. Having the manual is good in any event.
