Default Steering issue

Hello all,
I have a 95 F150 and when I turn the steering wheel it clicks and also makes a noise that sounds like you're winding up a music box, when I turn left the steering wheel will sometimes lock and I have to play with it to get it to continue turning. What could cause this? Thanks for your help

I'd be shopping around for a different steering column.

Is it power steering? If so it sounds like it could be the power steering box. Just a thought.
