Default Steering issue

Ok, need some help with this. Recently had the ball joints replaced on the old beast. Shortly after, I seem to have developed a strange steering issue. Started out on slow turns to the right....I would turn the steering wheel and the wheels would suddenly turn independently of the wheel. Not overly bad, but would jerk like on a roller coaster. Started doing it on slow left turns as well and steering would feel like it was stuck to one side. Power steering fluid is good. Bad pump? Bad steering box? Something else? Bad job on the ball joints or is it just coincidence? Fortunately it's not my daily driver, but I'm hesitant to drive it as I don't want the steering going. Any ideas?

Have it checked out by professionals before driving it much more. If it had work done and "shortly after" was no good then...... Somebody probably F'ed up.

I agree - get it checked out. Could just be a coincidence, but if the ball joints are actually improperly installed, well .... they do hold the wheels on the truck.
