steering column issues

Default steering column issues

my dad has a 91 manual with the tilt column and the ignition actuator that goes into the column that hits the ignition switch broke and we can't get the new one in. its the right piece we just have clearance issues any ideas?

i think i have a similar problem. i am using a pair of pliers to start the truck. i changed the ignition barrel i was thinking that would fix it kinda stupid really. did yo pull the steerng wheel ??

Yup it's all pulled apart right now. I know what I have to replace I just can't get the new piece in there and have no clue how to get more clearance

Go online and punch in : "Chris Bradley Technical Reports"
This guy documented a Tilt column break down to change out the ignition actuator on a full size bronco- (same column)..Pictures on each procedure..when you get there-scroll down to #25 and click the pic

Its been along time, am think the key cylinder has to be turned to accessory, full left. Now take a screw driver insert in column into the slot and turn it left to the accessory position. Now insert key cylinder into column, turn right to off and remove key. Give that a try.

I've got it jerry rigged for now. But it works

Now to fix my trans
