Default steam from cooling system

Hey guys, i have 92' f 150 4.9 manual 5 speed and i just replaced the water pump. I went for a test drive and the thermostat housing or water pump started steaming and the engine temp gauge went to hot. Any ideas of what went wrong?

I believe so. When i removed it, it opened so i know that its not broken. Then when i put it back i placed it with the coil side in the block and just put the housing on.
