Default Starting problems, please help!

I have a 95 5.0L and when I try to start the motor, all I hear is one click and nothing else. I believe it is the starter because I can override the starter by clamping the positive side of the battery to the silaniod(sp). Does this sound like the starter is out? Any help will be appreciated.

okay how do you over ride a starter? If you mean direct current to the starter it is solenoid on the fender wall.

yes, i put the current of the battery to the silinoid on the fender well, and i fixed the problem, it was the starter. easy fix, only about an hour's worth of work.

that does not sound like a starter at all might be a loose connection. if the starter bad it would not be able to turn the engine over.
