Start of 91 F150 Project
Hello all,
I am brand new to the forum world. I have a 1991 F150 4x4 "Nite" edition, that I want to add some extra parts too along with fix up some of the small internal problems it is having.
Cosmetic:
I would like to get a Brush Guard of sorts that I can mount extra lights onto.
I would also like to get all new seats, not just seat covers
Internal:
My speedometer accelerates to speeds above my actual speed, almost like it is more closely tied to my RPM gauge(which works great).
My oil temp gauge seems to never get very high, it move a little but not enough to make me think it is accurate.
Does anyone have any ideas, where I can pick up some good aftermarket parts for my exterior? And what is the best way to fix my speedo?

Hey Alex ... welcome!
Can't really recommend anything in the way of aesthetics.
On the speedometer ... go to one of the parts websites and see what the search term "speed sensor" turns up. They vary a bit so you would have to choose the one that makes the most sense for the year & motor of your truck.
The Ford oil pressure guages aren't particularly accurate. Some folks maintain that they're nothing more than an idiot light with a guage.
Others maintain that the oil sender unit has more than a simple on/off function. It supposedly varies it's output based on changing oil pressures.
Your best bet with odd guage readings would be to do some troubleshooting with the sender unit. First off ... pull the unit & temporarily install a mechanical oil pressure guage to see what you're really getting. The reading on the dash might be wonky or it might be right. This would be a way of telling for sure which is which.
While you've got it all apart throw in a new sender unit. They're not very expensive and most of the time that will resolve the problem that you mentioned.

Looks great! If it were me I'd go for subtle exterior mods...tint the windows, throw some clear corners on, drop it and run black wheels with machined accents. But to each his own...
