Stalls after start
I have an 87 f-150 with the 5.0 liter engine. Whenever I start it the first time any day (next day, next week, 2 weeks later...) it will start right up but then stall after a couple seconds. It doesn't matter if its hot out, cold out or anywhere between. When I start it again right after it stalls it starts right up again. Sometimes (if its not fine) it will stumble a little and rpms will fluctuate a little and then its ok. Idles fine, runs fine. On rare occasions I will have to start it a third time and its fine.
To be honest I really haven't investigated anything yet. I am curious if anyone else has experienced anything like this and what the issue was or if anyone has any thoughts on what it may be.
Thanks.

My '87 4.9 did exactly that for months. It finally got bad enough to fix it (its a farm truck, you can tolerate a lot), I replaced the inline fuel pump. that fixed that immediately. It started easily, made good power, idled clean. For about a week, then the remaining in tank pump, the front one bit the dust, so now it has all new pumps and is running perfectly. I haven't put the bed back on it yet, so no road test, but I'll bet it is golden now. I bought a fuel filter, but will run some fuel through it first, then change it. No doubt some junk got disturbed opening both tanks.
