Some new Problems (Old ones never solved?)
As current, I thought the only problem with my '93 F150 5.8L E4OD was it had hard shifts 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, all of them. I was given advice to clear the codes, and I did so. The only code that was read out to me was "MLPS out of range" or something like that. After the reset, no code is given (I still get 111).
Now I only take short trips, and it seemed to have fixed the problem, but after a 180 mile road trip, and a truely warmed up pickup, the hard shifts came back. I tried again once I got into town, let the truck warm up and sure enough, the hard shifts are back, but again no codes.
If anyone has encountered this, I would definately appreciate the
because I will be using the old girl to pull a larger Uhaul halfway across the state very shortly and thoughts in the back of my mind about my tranny just wont do.
On to a second, probably easier question. I used a seafoam treatment to increase some gas mileage again... (I get about 9-10 in town, and yes as I said my trips usually arent long enough to properly warm up) and I did as instructed, 1/3 in brake booster... yada yada, and let it sit for 20 minutes. When I started it again, no smoke, no performance, and no mpg gains to speak of. Is there a reason for this that any of you have seen? Thank you.
