Smoke Show
I have a 94 with a 302 and recently installed a cold air intake on my truck. It seems to have helped but it smokes a lot when it's going down the road or when reviing and then it chokes off. What could be wrong here, and, the truck is MAF.
Well, for one thing, anytime you do an air intake mod, you should clean the MAF sensor w/ MAF Sensor cleaner or electric contact leaner & disconnect the battery for 5 mins. minimum to clear & rebuild the KAM.
Maybe the joke is on you. I have a 94' that is MAF and I installed a K&N FIPK and saw a very noticable difference. Mine didn't smoke afterwards though, I did reset the KAM and cleaned the MAF with CRC MAF Cleaner....
BTW, I'm pretty sure it helped my mpg's too... yeah, what a joke...

Let's think about this...cold intake charge causes the air to be denser and thus a cleaner burn......These so called 'cold air intakes" available for most any model, are not sucking in any "cold air" they are sucking the hot air from under the hood in your engine compartment...the only difference you found was an easier breathing engine with more velocity being sucked into the intake tube...you want even more power and better fuel efficiency? Make it actually suck the cold air from outside rather than the hot air underhood.

Bottom line, they're not a joke, they work. But, to each his own. I'm more of a "glass half full" guy, guess your not.
