Default Side Mirror

Has anyone found replacement for this 1996 f150 manuel mirror all aftermarket parts the mount brackets are diffrent, they sit above the top of mirror arm and have poor reviews. I am restoring this f150 with original 49,000 miles farmtruck.. Thinking about taking them off and sanding and paint them so the rust from brackets doesn't keep affecting the paint. But if anyone has a OEM set to sell or know where to get them please let me know. My Junkyard only has passenger side

I believe the head of the mirror is the only part that is different from left to right, so you could pull a passenger side mirror assembly from a junkyard, and swap your old head onto it.

Another options that might work better than paint would be powder coating them.

You might luck out by finding a donor truck elsewhere in other boneyards by visting this site.

That's not much description. The more we know, the more-relevant our suggestions can be. You should put ALL your truck's details & history (as much as you know) into your signature so it shows with each post, as this page explains:

Phone apps don't always show signatures, so you may need to switch to a real browser in desktop mode on your phone, or just use a desktop/laptop computer. Put your location (nearest city) in your profile &/or signature, & upload an avatar of the truck. The more pics you post (NOT in your sig) of the truck, engine, wiring, labels, & undercarriage, the more likely we can help you. Not all its details are relevant to these issues, but you don't necessarily know which ones are relevant, so just put everything in now.

You should grab that original passenger mirror while you can. Even if you don't need it now (and Shagg is right), it's valuable to others, which would help you pay for parts you need. But there are NO good aftermarket replacements for these mirrors - they all vibrate because the heads aren't made like originals. The difference in how the arm mounts to the body bracket is only cosmetic.

To the OP...
If you can find a plating company near by they can chem-dip and replate the chrome. I did this a lot with vintage motorcycle parts that were NLA. Depends on the shop but I'd guess $150ish for both mirror assemblies. It'll hold up way better than paint and look OE again. You can't mimic chrome very well in powdercoat and it's about 6x as thick as plating.

Steve, is there any way to tighten a loose OE bubble back mirror balljoint?
