Default should i replace slave when i replace clutch?

Its internal slave 1995 f150 4x4 302 5.0.
The slave is fine and does NOT leak. However its internal and I have to replace my clutch Monday anyways. I just bought the truck a few months ago so I have no idea if its original or not. What should I do, go ahead and replace it or just leave it since it works fine?

Defiantly replace it. I did my clutch 3 years ago and the slave had no problems so I left it go, a year later I was pulling the transmission again to change the slave. Pulling trannie is not fun lol. I would reccamend buying a ford slave cylinder, when I was doing mine I read about allot of failers with the parts store brands. I've had no issues with mine since.

Same as above reply. The cost of the slave is not near as much as the hassle of pulling the trans again.

Thanks guys for fast response. Good direct answers, I appreciate that. I went ahead and bought one earlier today and told them I may be bringing it back. But now I know I'm putting it in. Only problem is its a napa slave. They didn't know brand and it don't say. I really hope its a good one. For $70 it better be!!! That's most $ I've ever spent on a slave

Good luck with that. Prevailing advice on here is to go with the Motorcraft OEM slave.

Has anyone had any experience with autocoms product? They have one for $60 and it has metal base/frame! Looks like a solid slave unlike all the other brands with plastic

I'll be honest and say that I've never had issues buying NAPA's product line. Maybe someone else can chime in and say otherwise, but they've been good to me so far. I'd stick to motorcraft for things like spark plugs or glow plugs.

As far as the original question goes, I agree with everyone else so far. Replace it while it's out. Hell, if the old one really is still good then keep it as a spare.
