Default shifting into reverse

I have a 94 xl with the 4.9 and auto trans. When i shift into reverse in take a couple seconds for it to engage. Its not that big of a problem, i was just wondering if it could eventually lead to something major?

Does this only happen into reverse, or is it slow into fwd also? I'm thinking tranny filter is restricting oil into pump. But that I would think would affect fwd and reverse. Doesn't sound good to me. Good luck!

It's probably a pressure problem. If the fluid is at the proper level, then you might need to replace the filter, put in clean oil and try again.
