Default Shifter problems!

I have a 1994 F150 4.9L straight 6 5 spd manual transmission. I noticed my shifter had way too much play while in gear. I bought a shifter repair kit on rockauto.com and I'm having a huge pain getting the two shifter pins out of the transmission. I tried tapping them but I'm getting way too frustrated with this and I really need to get those pins out and replaced! Has anyone here ever experienced the same problem? Any clues or special techniques on getting them out? Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem, ended not replacing them. Just get those new bushings in there and you'll be fine. Yes you can bend that lower bushing around the pins to get it in there.

Are you talking about the shift rails?

Thanks for the help Andrew95!!! I just finished it all up and my shifter has improved dramatically! After bending that lower bushing, only took about 10 mins to get everything back together.
