Default Shift Kit is a pain in the ***!

I got my repair kit today and thought it would be a breeze to install
well it ended up becoming a tornado of curse words, hammers and confusion.

Ok First I had to beat out the shifter pins. I got one out and the other one was in there.

So I had to take the shifter pan out to get the other one out because due to the angle, i could not use my chisel sqaurely.

So after those were out, i put the washer, then the bushing, then the shifter, then its bushing, the the top cover.

Then I go to put the bolt in the shifter and discovered when i had hammred it out of the shifter, i ruined part of the threading and had to put it and a vice and run it thorugh the nut a couple times, then I isntalled it and found that I had put it in the worng hole and it wont shift, so i had to take it appart again, due to the bolt being up i took 15 minutes each time to install it.

But it shifts like a new one with no play at all, the noise is gone too.

Yeah, same here. The shifter bolt screwed me the first time because I didn't know how it worked. I even took a pipe wrench to my shifter thinking it would unscrew that way. But after having to remove it a few times myself, I can get it done in a few minutes flat. She shifts fine but now I have to handle a "hanging" RPM problem while shifting,.............uuuuggggg!!! Again, glad to hear it worked out.
