serious oil problems!!!!
1987 f150 302 .. . the engine oil guage would drop at 4k rpm so i repplace dthe oil pump with high vol high pres and noticed in the pan serious paint particles . . .must have been from the block painting wasnt masked off well enough but now i have new oil oil filter screen cleaned and new pump . .. .its now worse is it posible the whole engine is cloged .. .and is there a solution that will break down the paint and be safe in the oil cause i really dont want to rebuild it over ugh stupid paint .. .
Thanks Tom
Thanks Tom
I'm not sure about 302 engines, so I will answer generally. There is no way i know for paint to get inside. Usually engine is not to be painted from inside. So first question is - was it paint particles or metal particles? If oil channels inside of a block/heads are clogged up, the only way I know to clean them is to disassemble engine completely and apply some solvent under pressure. While you were replacing oil pump, did you check crankshaft bearings for free play ? That bearings are what mostly affects oil pressure.
I'm with Fast Hampster. The "paint" chips might have been pieces of bearings. This wouldn't cause your oil issue but is a sign of needing new bearings at the least and might have been caused by the oil starvation. The oil starvation at high rpm I would attribute to oil not getting back into the pan fast enough because of blocked oil passages in the heads and lifter valley, and possibly a clogged windage tray if you have one on your engine.
You can remove the valve covers and intake to get to the plugged passaged and clean them out with and oil galley cleaning kit...basically a large version of a copper rifle bore brush/ stiffer bottle cleaning brush.
The oil pan will need to be removed to flush out all of the debris.
Only other thing I can think of is your oil filter, if it is a cheap brand, is being collapsed from all of the extra flow at high rpm..but I "kinda" doubt that is the issue. Might be worth replacing to see if it helps tho.
How many miles on the engine?
Do you know the history of the engine?

to clear thigs up for some confusion it has new oil new pump new filter new sending unit new heads new bearings new valves springs rockers new rings . . but the heads were painted awhile ago i had them lying around and never cleaned them and i forgot that they needed to be boiled cause there was large deposits of paint to make it more clear the pan was fuild with large yellow paint chips yellow the collor of the paint all gumed in the screen so changed the oil new filter and pump cleaned the screan hence all the new oil system parts and now its worse and i took the oil filter off and primed it to see if oil came out and a flake of paint the size of a finger nail came out so no doubt its colged up but wont mater i decided f it and rebuild it again :-/
