Sure does...THAT works great!

Trans is NOT E40d...Its the other one because a e40d filter/gasket is totally different.

Absolutey! It was a cadillac at one point! It has an airbag rear suspension in i t too, but the pump always runs! Workin on that very soon. It's just fallen in to disrepair just like any vehicle does when it sits for an extended period. I'm a Stang guy and I can tweak a 5.0 with the best of them, but this a diesel which is totally new for me. It's a challenge for sure but not hopeless like our 460 is...that thing is just a moneypit! The transmission I need to fix the 460 is worth more than the whole truck. That one has 125 k miles and went through 3 transmissions...ridiculous! We don't haul 20,000 lbs so I'm thinkin put a 3.27 gear in the back and and a Tremec 6 speed and call it a day! In my personal experience...Ford makes garbage automatics and why drop 4,000 on another potential migraine when I know I can put a Beast of a manual in it and not think about it again for the life of the truck!

Hell, I suppose it could be a C6.....Ford automatics are ok.....nothing is as bad as a Dodge. If there is a vacuum line going down to the transmission, it's a C6......take some pics of the trans and post em up.

I asssumed it was a c6 because it had the tailshaft o/d unit on it and i couldn't imagine anyone putting that stress on a stock aod...it turn out it is the 4r70 because that ws the gasket that fit when i pulled the pan and filter. It's a Jasper Trans and I'm waiting for the email from them to tell me what kind of rebuild it was...It's shifting perfectly now and it runs 2500 rpm at 70 mph. Pretty good considering the 4.11 rear

Y'all are all fixing to say duh but I figured I'd say it anyway, of you have two floor jacks siphon as much fuel out of the tanks as you can and then jack the jacks up under one tank on each side to distribute the weight, I'm not sure if this model is strapped on but undo all the fuel lines and fuel pump and lower it! Dropping the tank really is not near as hard as everyone makes it out to be

Don't you usually want to run the ATF coolers in the low pressure side to keep the heat out of the pump?

Edit nevermind, I was thinking power steering.

Ain't no way it's a 4R70W....only 3 options behind the 7.3 IDI C6, E4OD and Zf. Sure, you could drop the tanks....or you could undo 6 bolts, one wiring harness plug and take the bed up and/or off.

It is not the stock trans...It's a Jasper reman unit. I guess the 4r70 is stronger because i know the aod could not handle a od unit for very long on this monster of a vehicle. The aod filter gasket did not fit. 4r70 did...

Pulled the tanks and the pickups were fine...lol. Nothing is easy lol. Still cutting out and showin water in fuel...gonna trace the fuel lines tomorrow...

Take pics of the trans pan. The 3 options I listed are the only 3 that will bolt up to an IDI unless they used a newer PSD trans....but I don't know how that would work.
