Default Saving an 88's Chassis/Underside

So I've recently decided to go down the road of saving my 88 F-150 XLT Lariat. The problem is she was a northern vehicle most of her life, and she's got a good bit of rust.

My main concern is saving the chassis and other bits underneath the truck that have a good deal of surface rust. I'm not really sure how to go about preserving the underside. I saw one guy who sprayed Rustoleum Rust Reformer followed by Chassis Black on his truck and said he had done it to several other cars and that it had done the trick. Should I start looking at something like this? Or is there a better path to follow?

Anyone out there have any guidance for me?

Some of the best stuff is por15 it's specificly made for rusty chassis. You have to paint over the por15 because uv rays mess it up. The only problem with this stuff is the price, it is like $150 a gallon. If this is no issue I would use this stuff. A cheaper alternitave is to spray the underside with used motor oil. This is what I do to my truck and after a few coats it works good, and water beads up on it.

Yeah that price is not a problem at all. How many parts have to come off the chassis in order to apply this properly? Should I just pay someone else to put it on?

Nothing, From what I know you just sand all of the rust and paint over everything. You could take the bed off to make life easier though.

That's exactly what I'm after. About how much did all of that run you?

It's a buddy that did it but he usually can do them for less than a $1000 depending how bad it is. Rust isn't the issue as it comes off easy, it's multiple layers of undercoating that take time. If it's just rusty it'd be around $600. Now if you start adding up some of the costs of do it yourself products (P.O.R.15, paint etc.) and realize you'll never get the same results as this, $600 bucks is cheap.

Should get her back from the shop Tuesday. Doing the repairs didn't leave me enough to get the under side treated and I'm having a hard time finding a sand blaster near me that will do it at all. Going to keep looking and put the pennies aside to get this done.

Thanks for all your help man.
