Default rust problem

okay i'm trying to figure what i can do to get rid of this rust.it has eaten all the way through the outer rocker and there is some foam inside it looks like. i'm pretty sure that it is going to need cut out but i don't think i can bend some sheet metal to replace it. i haven't done any body work or anything like that so i just looking for some input. thanks

you can cut the panel out and buy a pre shaped replacement from LMC for less than $100.

It looks like you might be able to get away with just cutting out the unbent rust part and then tacking in some flat sheet metal (see pic)

A little bondo slathered on top of the tacked in metal could easily be formed to match the other lines on the truck using a rigid edge (putty knife, credit card, Bon Jovi CD case, etc.)

This part of the truck rusting out is pretty common (along with the wheel wells). Both sides of my truck were rusted out here. The metal plate welded in on mine doesn't even come close to matching the factory bend and the non matching paint isn't much help either, but the smoothness of the bondo makes it difficult to really tell unless you're up close and personal.

well my plan is to herculine from the pinstriping down. i just want to remove the rusted part of that panel so i don't just cover a problem. i like the look of that panel on lmc and it's not to pricey. i need to pull off the chrome accent pieces in my wheel wells to see if they are rusting through.
