Default Rust at bottom below window on ext cab common?

I have been looking for some time at 90-96 F150 ext cab and quite a few of them have rust spots on the bottom of the body below the window of the extended cab part. And this is in the Carolinas so it's not due to salty roads like some in the northern states. How big of a deal is this? Relatively inexpensive repair?

Anyone know how big of a deal it is to repair or is it just something these years deal with?

It's rust - it doesn't go away and it doesn't get smaller. To fix it it has to be cut out and a new piece welded in. Or just leave it alone and don't look at it. They all get it there eventually, it's just a bad spot for moisture.

Its a very common problem. I wondering if it may have something to do with window gaskets leaking.
