Its a 88 F-150 with a 302. When I start it up in the morning it idles real high then starts having idle surges. It goes real high to real low where it almost stalls out and sometimes it does. After the motor warms up it stops. I don't know if that would be a egr valve or not?

Do you have any codes present? You might want to clean your idle air control.

 

I havent checked for codes. I will have to use a volt meter to do that.

 

Or a paper clip or piece of wire.
