When i start the engine it does fine but after a few minutes the rpm fluctuates than finally dies,,almost like its starved of fuel..also when it is running and when accelerating it knocks and pings like crazy. can you please help?

Just a thought, when cold the engine is running in open loop, meaning its in full rich condition and not being controled by the computor. As engine warms up it goes to closed loop, controlled by the computor. It controlls fuel flow and ignition. Start with the basics, check timing with a lite, don't forget to unplug the PIP connector while doing check. Perform EEC self test, an excellent article by Just call me Sean in the How to section, covers this.
