Post The Resurrection Of War Machine

This thread is Reserved for The Documentation and observance of the Resurrection rebuild of War Machine, My first ford my first truck my first Passion for all things custom. This thread will be my place where I document and list what I will be doing and rebuilding as well as tell a story of My F150 War Machine.

War Machines Back story and history.
in 1993 An order was placed to the factory in Pennsylvania for a 1994 f150XL regular cab short bed with the 4.9l Inline six and the m5od 5 speed transmission and four wheel drive and the optional extra tow package and Special paint Ultra Red.
the Recipient of the truck was an old man who lived in up state New York who drove it until he passed away leaving it to his grand son who put 10,000 miles or so and added fender flairs 33 all terrains tool box and tannaeu cover.
I ended up seeing it sitting on the side of the street in south Portland Maine. and got the truck I learned how to drive a manual transmission after my mom drove it home for me then taught me how to drive War Machine.
War Machine was for me to go to college and it got me there thru 3 apartment moves until settling in at my house.

While i was working a full time job and going to college War machine was my daily driver over time I converted it to full led including my instrument cluster to red leds painted the interior custom red, added a sound system and chrome rims along with a 102" whip antenna off the rear bumper replacing the front bumper 3 times. original one from rust second one from a slight wreck. successfully added and regretted adding a bronco swing away spare to the rear bed. and put the correct exhaust on. Re did all of the brake lines replaced the steering box 2 times first one was defective second works.
after 6 Maine winters and only 20,000 miles i racked up on War machine time took its tool and I had to take it off the road due to rust. I have owed it all this time and until recently has just been sitting collecting rust and dust as I worked on my other projects and eventually ending up loosing my job and home and being homeless for a little time I am working my way back to the top and War machine is my First project after loosing it all but my Truck.

Default Where War Machine sits now.

As it sits the list below is what it needs to be road legal once more in the state of Maine.

  • front ball joints
  • Lock out hub
  • Both front spring towers
  • both front springs
  • spring seats
  • both rear leaf springs
  • passenger side floor welded
  • passenger side rocker panel
  • both cab corners
  • both front fenders
  • entire rear bed
  • rear differential seals
  • brake pads and rotors drums and shoes
  • clutch line
  • battery
  • fuel gauge repaired

Once all of that is fixed and I have acquired a valid sticker the fun will begin.

Good to see you are getting back on your feet.
Good luck and keep us posted, looks like you have quite a job ahead of you with all that rust.

Is that even restorable at this point? It looks like outer and inner panels are completely gone. Aside from the huge cost vs just buying a better truck, arn't you going to need to custom fab a lot of the metal work?

Maybe you have mad body work and metal skills, in which case great. I've gotten into several of these projects when I was younger and wish I had that money back.

Good luck.

I have skills to do so, and the pockets to do so as well my budget is tight but 100% of the built is just parts and my time. something worth doing will never be easy sure anyone can find and buy a better truck. not many rebuild em.
my friend suggested i use thicker sheet metal and fab my own bottom floor pan and i might just do that. im taking it one step at a time first get it level and safe to drive chassis wise then redo the cab and i may put a flat bed on it. with the 123k mile driveline which is in pretty good shape its well worth restoring to me. its not my first resurrection, i have resurrected my forester from the grave to after blowing the engine at 110mph
