Default Reset Codes on a 96 F150.

Had some codes come up which seemed to be caused by a vaccum leak. Fixed it, reset the codes. Now how long and what do I need to do in order to verify the fixes in fact fixed the truck. I need to go get it smogged, but I was told if the I/M monitors return incomplete it is an automatic failure. So what do I do from here?

it usually takes either 15 miles-30 minutes of driving, after that go back and have it scanned again.

(in genereal) If it is an emissions related fault, the system will throw a code on the first indication of it. If it isn't related to emissions, the computer just watches it until a certain number of events have occured or if certain parameters are exceeded. You could go buy a scan tool. HF here (IL) has one for $100 thats decent enough. Long story short, if you have started it up once or twice and the CEL hasn't come back on, it's fixed.
