Break booster can be a cause of a vacuum leak sometimes may be worth double checking

I definitely think the brake booster is bad as it is hissing loudly upon braking. I'm just not sure if it would cause my rpms to jump from 2k to 3k between shifts like that. I feel like the brake booster has been bad longer than this prob. I hate throwing parts at it, but considering how old everything is, I know many things could use replacing anyways.

Mine hisses too- there’s a way to test- search for it, it’s simple; I can’t remember completely but with engine off before bed Pump brake until the play is gone (won’t depress anymore). Go back in morning and see how much you can push in. If barely any then it’s good. Again search it; it’s a simple test.

I have read through it. Like I said, im trying to figure out this throttle/idle problem, and I just don't want to be chasing other things until I figure it out. Just wasn't sure if a bad brake booster could even cause the symptoms I'm having, but I suppose if it acts as a vacuum leak, it could, in theory.

I have the exact same problem on my F250 with codes 212 and 173. What ended up fixing it?
