Default Replacing the sending unit

I finally got my PawPaw's 1989 F150 5.8L 4 x4. It has not been driven in a year. He replaced the bed with two gas ports. It originally had one (front tank) but with the bed replacement he installed only a new rear tank and didn't replace the front. One is fine with me. The gas gauge is not working and the gas must be changed. Should I order a complete kit (pump and sending unit)/What brand? From what distributor?
Any general advice or threads that already made would be extremely helpful.
Thank you

I went to LMC Truck parts for a friend's 1989 F350.
He was changing a tank, pump and sending unit.
Check out their website and have them mail you a catalog .
We have a few covering different years.

I was told motorcraft, Delphi only. But Bosch might be good to.
