replacing oil pan
there is no easy way to remove and replace your pan..the only way to get it off is to jack the Engine...this requires exhaust man/radiator/ motor mounts..all those rusted *** bolts. if you just needed a gasket replaced there are options.. good luck
id personally recommend pulling the engine. I will be if I ever have to do another one.
last time I had to take the 2 engine mount bolts off, take the intake off, remove the rad hoses, and jack the motor up as high as it would go before the plenum hit the hood. also had to take out the exhaust bolts to separate it from the headers. then took off all the pan bolts. if you want to take the pan right out, you will have to reach inside and take off the oil pump, because there is not enough room to for the pan to clear before it hits the cross member. took me about 7 excruciating hours to do this.
my dad did it this way a couple months before, and didn't realize the pin that goes from the oil pump to the distributor wasn't in before he put it all back together. that was an $1100 mistake. so yeah, both of us will be pulling the motor next time lol.

Thank you for the input. I have decided to have a mechanic friend do the labor since he has a shop and the tools for the job. All I have to do is supply the parts. Too much work and headache for me. I would probably screw something up. I don't want that to happen. Goes into shop this week.

good choice lol. I almost wish I didn't know how to do it or didn't have the tools so I could do the same next time haha

If its gets bad enough I'd just yank the engine. I'd get allot more done like a degrease, new gaskets, block heater with frost plugs, fix the tiny leak at the exhaust and weld so small section of frame that has a hole on the top by the coil tower.
