Replacing my stock coil springs with Moog CC844 F250 coils.
#121
I know this is an older thread but just want to say thanks for all the information on it. I installed a set of Moog CC824's on my '90 today and am very happy with the way it sits. The springs brought the nose of the truck up so it's within 1/4" of level. The procedure was very straight forward and the low cost made it a very worth while modification. Here is how my truck sits now: (I know...it needs bigger tires!)

I too was a bit skeptical about how much they would bring up the front end. While some like the firmer ride of the 844 coils, I waned the stock ride with a little more height. I am sure other truck configurations could gain even more from the 824 coils. My truck has the 5.8L w/AC, supercab, 4x4. I am sure with the inline 6 and 2wd, there would be less weight for the springs to carry.

I have not done the camber bushings as of yet and am not sure I will need to. While the top of the tires stick out slightly, it's hardly noticable. I will be having 4wheelparts do my alignment once I get the steering and front suspension rebuilt.
Looking at the data on the Moog website, my truck would have come stock with the 822's and the 824's are considered the heavy duty version. The spring rates are the same @ 366 pounds but the 824's have a load rating of 1442 as opposed to 1230 of the 822's. Also by the moog specs, the 822's have a 16.38" freestanding height and the 824's have a 16.94" freestanding height. Comparing the old and new springs side by side, they had a much larger difference than that.

I had the 844s put on my truck (see signature).. Im glad I got it done and it rides real good. I did only lift it 1.25" roughly. I'm happy with it but do wish it was a little higher in the front but at the same time it won't be up in the air w a 4 wheeler in the bed so I'm overall happy. It needed an alignment anyways so I went ahead and did the springs at the same time

It rides very well...stock in fact. I thought about installing the 844's but did not want a stiffer ride.

Thanks for the info. I too did not want a stiffer ride. Now I feel a lot better about getting the 824's. My main reasons for wanting to get the springs is to level it and eliminate body roll. My truck has horrible body roll in a tight turn and it would be awesome to get rid of it.

PLEASE HELP!!! So back in the summer I ordered a pair of new front coils (Moog CC824) after reading how easy they were to swap out and would help level my truck (95 F150 XL - 2WD). Now that I have gotten to tear the front end apart I have ran into nothing but problems. Once installed, the bottom retainer doesn't make contact with the spring, did anyone else have this issue? Did I not actually get sent a 824 spring? the bottom coil doesn't appear to be as tight as stock.
Thanks!
Thanks!
