Default Replacement truck?

So my truck is great. Runs well drives well, always starts easy on gas etc. But it's ugly, no overdrive, single cab etc. So I found a low mileage 4.9 (same as mine) but an Auto, extended cab. I'm told it has overdrive, it's a 1990. So what tranny does it have? certainly not a C-4 or C-6. Mine is a 4spd manual, works great, but again no overdrive. So would the big I-6 4.9 ltr pull an automatic tranny? Would this be so underpowered as to be worthless? I do a lot of mountain driving at high altitude, with the big 6, no problem pulling the grades, even with a load. Would the auto still do ok? The truck looks fairly nice. I'm partial to a manual tranny, but can live with an auto. Any comments? Anyone who has this combo?

Take it for a test drive and see if it meets your standards. Gearing will play a big part, if it will drive similar to what you have.

Power loss is at most 5% more from a AT than a manual.

my guess is that it has the AOD transmission, thats what my brothers 90 had in it. auto transmissions are fine as long as they're in good shape and shift fine the I6 isn't that powerful of an engine
