Default Removing hub snap ring

I altering to replace the hub bearings on my 96 f150 and I am having some trouble. I have auto lock hubs and I can't get the snap ring out. I looked on YouTube and I saw two videos that there was the same tattle of auto lock hub. They both had flat snap rings that popped out easy with a screwdriver. I have a round wire lock ring and it sits into the groove about half of its diameter. What is the best way to get it out? I was thinking a pick, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something in front of my face before I put my truck back together just to buy a pick.

That's about all you can use or maybe a small flat blade screwdriver. Just don't scratch the groove that the retaining ring goes in and it'll be fine.

a radiator hose hook will work also. and has a long handle to let you tilt the ring out easily.

best of luck.

Yup, a pick or a screwdriver. Also, to get the ring back on, grab the u joint and pull it towards you, cause it has a tendency to slip back.
