Ran test got codes 213 and 73.
OK now I'm getting close to solving the mystery of what is wrong with my ol' ford.
1. Code 213- spout circuit open or shorted.
2. Code 73 - throttle positioning sensor tps.
OK now here are the symptoms. First start and engine light is on, idle low, like it's gonna stall out and I smell fuel or exhaust alot. And getting bad mileage. Now when I drive for about 20 mins engine light turns off truck runs great full power no problems. I have done a full tune up plusgs wires oil and air. So I'm thinking it has to be a sensor or a short just like codes say. Now who knows where to start hunting for the short? Should I change the tps? All the help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, change the TP sensor. What year truck and engine? The TP sensor is mounted on the bottom of the throttle body. It's as simple as removing the TB - 4 10mm bolts and a couple of coolant hoses, flip it upside down and remove the 2 phillip screws. As for the 213 dtc, it could be a number of things that could set this code - PCM, distributor, TFI or wiring. what color ignition module do you have - grey or black? The incorrect one will set a 213. If you have a '93-'95 look at TSB 95-15-11 where the shielding wire rubs through the PIP or SPOUT wire - this is the most common issue and is something to check even though the TSB doesn't address the 213 dtc:

Disconnect battery, rerun self test and see what codes return. I'll be willing to bet that you have other codes as well. If the 213 returns disconnect the spout connector and see if there's any improvement.

I pulled out the spout no difference at all. I had the battery unhooked while I was doing the tps. I will try to unhook again and see what happens. Now let me tell you this before I changed the tps this morning my truck would start and run rough sputters burping couldn't hit the gas. Now after about 20 mins it seemed like it burped lol and the engine light goes off and runs great. So if something was bad how would it run great after it warmed up.

I ran the test again this time I got the same 73 tps 213 spout, circuit short or open circuit and 411 is idle high iac but the engine revs up when it's doing the test. I've replaced the tps can't find any shorts on our around the spout. Now it's actually cutting off when I drive it. Didn't do that until I changed the tps. I'm lost. Want to set it on fire and buy a Chevy.
