Default Radius arm replacement

The threads on my radius arm are stripped out. The nut will still tighten to a certain extend, it maybe holds 50 ft lbs. Do I need to replace the whole arm? It looks like the threaded part is just welded to the rest of the arm. If I cut this stud out and get a grade 8 bolt and cut the head off and weld back in would this work? I really dont feel like taking apart the whole side to replace it.

It would work if done carefully. Are your threads bad all the way or just when you get to where it tightens ? If the threads are better further out maybe just a spacer would be a better solution ?
