Default Rack and Pinion

has anyone one put a rack and pinion on their 1990 ford f150 lariet xlt, I want to, not sure if will fit and/or how difficult or expensive it might be, already completed over $1600.00 on front end work still slop in wheel replaced everything!!!!! SO...though why not a little more money and go for a rack and pinion. Thanks

Default reac and pinion

what price do you put on your toys ? I can afford it, did'nt say it was the smartest thing to do, just not sure if it will work or not, but I'm learning.

you can do anything with the right money. i've thought about putting hydro assist in my for offroad, but rack and pinion is sim.

one thing we have going is the engine crossmember and its relation to where the tierods bolt to the steering knuckles. so it would be easy to mount the rack there.

the hard part would be the steering shaft, you would have to run a custom set up there with a mount to hold it up too.

then you would have to get a pump for it,(i'm not sure if you can use the factory pump or not.) if not you'll have to have a custom bracket built to mount it and run the pulley.

its not that hard, but you have to get the mounting almost exact. we are talking about cnc'ed parts and brackets.

Thanks for the information, i can afford it, just wasnt sure it would work, does sound like a lot of trouble, will have to figure out another way to solve the slop in the wheel. thanks again
