The speedo end of the cable kooks good.
One difference between the speedometers, is when I spin the back by hand
I can feel the one with the tach has more resistance than my old one.
Not sure if that even matters though.
Huston..... We have a problem!!!

I unbolted the small module the cable goes into.
Much simpler than I thought, both gears are white.

The one off my truck had damage so I swapped it for the one off my 89.
it did improve the problem a bit but the needle jumps back and forth real fast about 2 or 3 kph and its still about 7 kph to slow.
……… now the bad part. I pulled the white gear out again and its now damaged the same as the one that was in there.
Unless I somehow installed it wrong, it looks like my t case is chewing those gears.

the gear inside the t case needs to be replaced. i had the same issue with my bronco. the gear was worn so it chewed up the one on the speedo cable. easy and cheap repair

I replaced the cluster in my '87 also. The donor vehicle had a 5 spd and I have a C6. It seems to read faster than I'm actually going.

So are you guys saying that the dealer can sell me new gears for the trany so it will read right?

Yes he can, but will he? Actually, there's a bunch of sources for those.
