Question on front axles
1995 F150 4x4 with Dana 44. Replacing rotors today and I pulled the spindle as well for a new bearing. On the passenger front the spindle came off and left the axle inside the rubber boot...on the drivers side however the axle came with the spindle and I saw gear oil running out of the front pumpkin. I quickly shoved it back in and then separated the spindle leaving the axle in (when I say axle, I mean the u-joint inward).
Is it ok? I can't see in there due to the frame and stuff. Is there a rubber boot or something? A seal I need to check out or replace? Or is it just fine I put it back in and button everything up? Should I top off the gear oil in the pumpkin?
