For those that installed the moog844 F250 springs, did you have any trouble doing it without a spring compressor? Any thoughts or suggestions here? I have read a few accounts of people having trouble with the installation of the F250 springs on F150 4x4s. Anyone else heard about that?

Thanks

If you unhook the shocks and take off the brake caliper , and have the truck far enough off the ground, you can force the axle beam down far enough to set the spring in place without a spring compressor. I didn' t need to use a spring compressor until I put the leveling spacers in with the f250 springs, you don't want to do that. Seriously don't try spacers and f250 springs.

I needed a spring compressor but I didn't unhook anything else. I needed it more to compress the new springs. If you have to go to the auto parts store I say rent it just in case. You'll get your money back whether you need it or not.

I'm not sure where you're planning on getting them but amazon still has them for $67.99 with free shipping.

After having looked at some other pics after posting the thread I completely agree with you.

Now I just need to decide whether to level the front with pucks or springs. I have been reading about some guys that use the moog front springs for an F250. Apparently they are a direct fit and give an extra ~2" height in the front. I have also looked at some Rough Country leveling springs (marketed to give a 1.5" level/lift). I hardly take the truck off-road, so I am thinking the F250 springs for better load tolerance since it sounds like the RC springs would be better for off-roading, but not as good for regular driving.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks again, BTW. You guys have been really helpful.

Go with the springs for sure. My trucks springs were old and saggy and when I put the leveling spacers in my truck still wasnt level. Looks better none the less, but still slightly dissapointing. I plan on upgrading to f250 front springs this summer when work picks up for me. Ill post the most recent picture I have but my suspension has settled since then so it is atleast another .5' inch lower in the front. these are only with 31in tires.

So, I'm looking at the Moog F250 springs on Rock Auto right now. There are two separate models, 844 and 844S. From the details provided, it looks like the 844S have an installed height of 13.00" compared to 12.75" for the regular 844 springs. Additionally, it looks like the 844S springs have a load rating of 1759lbs compared to 1557lbs for the 844 springs (super duty versus heavy duty).

Anybody used one over the other? Do you think that the super duty springs will make the ride too rough?

Thanks

I used the 844s rides way nicer than old worn out springs

When I was doing my research I read about the 844s being much stiffer than the 844. Someone with the 844s even stated that they had wished they'd gone with the 844. I eventually just decided that I didn't really want the stiffer ones because many reviews pointed to the 844 being really stiff already. Either will give you the level that you desire so just try to decide based on how stiff you want your ride. I can't speak at all for the 844s but I don't find the 844 to be as stiff as some were describing.
