Question Question

Hello im new to these forums.

I inherited a 1990 F150 XLT Lariat about 5 years ago and at the time i didnt have my license. then when i finally got my license i got a different vehicle because i couldnt afford to drive the truck.

its been sitting for quite sometime now and i was thinking about selling it. i threw a new battery in it today and it started right up but its making a loud knocking noise. im thinking its the valves not getting any oil.

i was gonna drain the oil and do an oil change and see if that would fix the issue but if that dosent im kinda at a loss.

has anyone had a similar issue? any advice is greatly apreciated thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Do you know any history of the truck, why was it parked? When it started, did it develope oil pressure? Need further description of the noise? Need info, to many hair brain possibilities.

The trucks history was fine when i got it it was my grandfathers truck and he didnt really drive it much the truck only has 69,000 miles on it.

it was parked because at the time i got it i didnt have a license, then when i got my license i couldnt afford to drive it because of the gas prices, its been in a garage the entire time.

I didnt leave the engine running long enough to even check, hell i didnt even think to check the oil pressure gauge.

As for the noise i dont really know how i can explain it any differently. the motor sounds good until like 5 seconds after its started. mayb a little less then the loud knocking noise kicks in.

Not to insult you, but is their anyhting in the fan or near something thats moving. I know its sounds crazy but I had a buddy call me to help with his truck because it was knocking. I got there opened the hood and found the battery had fallen out of the tray and was hitting the fan.
